Lancast Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network connectivity solutions, has announced a redundant, load-sharing 48V DC power option for its Intelligent Media Converter 7500. This new power option meets the stringent power requirements for telecommunications environments to ensure high reliability and maximum uptime.
"Now the advantages of media conversion that are utilized in enterprise networks are available for the telecommunications market," states Don Garretson, vice president of sales at Lancast. "The availability of this product allows ILECs and CLECs to install manageable telco-grade media converters to connect high-speed networks to central office switches."
The 7500 product line provides seamless connectivity with all major switch and router manufacturers and can offer a cost-effective solution for fiber connectivity in copper switches to lower the cost per port without sacrificing functionality. The 7500 supports the Lancast`s extensive line of intelligent "twister" media converter modules, which can extend network distances to 100km, while providing the ability to mix and match media types, speed, and connections. Data link redundancy options deliver Managed Network-on-Demand capabilities for mission-critical applications. When configured with Lancast`s exclusive SNMP management module, the Intelligent Media Converter 7500 provides proactive management of over 40 functional, operational, and environmental conditions through NetBeacon management software.
