Land Rover tries RFID
Ford Motor Company's Land Rover division and Savi have started a pilot programme to deploy an active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solution, says CNNMoney.
The pilot will work to better synchronise the delivery of auto parts from multiple suppliers to Land Rover's key assembly plant in the West Midlands, UK.
The pilot is made possible through a UK central government grant administered by the University of Warwick, which was instrumental in an 18-month evaluation of solution providers worldwide, and in selecting the Savi solution.
Smart cards, RFID crack the nod
CMP International, organisers of IFSEC 2008, a global conference and seminar event for the security industry, has announced that a smart card and RFID area will be hosted at the event, says CBR Online.
The conference will be held in the UK in May 2008. This is the first time this area will be covered by the IFSEC, along with eight other product areas.
The organisers claim that studies by various groups have found that the circulation of smart cards worldwide is set to increase from the present 1.4 billion to over four billion by 2010.
embrace bar codes
The TerraPharma Project, an educational advocacy organisation that promotes patient safety improvement, has agreements with four top healthcare group purchasing organisations to promote The unSUMMIT Conference for Bedside Barcoding, according to Business Wire.
Members of Premier, Novation, MedAssets Supply Chain Systems and Amerinet will receive a registration discount to attend the conference that will provide information on the latest bar code-enabled point of care (BPOC) technology designed to reduce medical errors and enhance patient safety.
The unSUMMIT is an educational event that facilitates peer-to-peer exchange and offers hospitals a one-stop-shopping experience to evaluate BPOC systems and associated technologies.
