New world land speed records for hybrid-electric vehicles and for electric-only vehicles will be assisted by Access software supporting the project.
This attempted record means that the world`s fastest car could be powered by electricity within the next two years. The revolutionary vehicle using electricity and gas turbine power to challenge the wheel-driven land speed record is designed by Martin Bryant who worked as a designer and engineer for top industry names such as Williams, Ligier and Arrows Formula 1 teams.
Access reseller E-Advantage Solutions will provide complete outsourced IT management for the e-commerce Web site and back-office systems for the project.
Created by Pegasus Electric Ltd using zero/low emission power sources, the hybrid-electric version is a world-first and will target achieving speeds in excess of 500mph, while the electric-only version will target speeds in excess of 300mph. The current world land speed record for electric-only vehicles is 245mph, set by an American team in 1997.
The overall record for wheel-driven vehicles stands at 410mph, set in 1965 by the Americans. Pegasus Electric using hybrid turbine electric motors are ultimately planning to hit 700mph, not far short of the Thrust rocket-powered speed of 763mph.
E-Advantage Solutions is pleased that its software suppliers are providing the software at no cost. Managing Director Cliff Jenkins said: "We are particularly grateful to Access Accounting Ltd, as the solution could not be put together without the Access Web-enabled back-office system - this enables seamless integration with AccessweB for the Web site front-end. Access software was fast to use which is essential when you are working for free."
To make the Web site more user-friendly for the thousands of expected visitors, Formatt Solutions Ltd is providing the use of its "AnswerShop" software, also at no cost.
Access Managing Director Alistair O`Reilly said: "We have broken a few records in our time: being the first to bring true Windows to the mid-range accounts market; the first to introduce a mid-range Client/Server solution; the first to deliver a packaged business to business e-commerce solution and the first to embrace Microsoft`s .NET strategy. Now our software is set to help the world`s fastest car smash another record."
Cliff Jenkins, Managing Director of E-Advantage Solutions Ltd, commented: "We are very excited to be working with Martin Bryant, using his experience as an F1 designer for Williams, Ligier and Arrows, and in helping him to achieve his objectives. We will all be there to see this fabulous car in action. Let us wish Martin and his team every success in taking this incredible technology into new areas."
