PaperGeni has opened a plant in Cape Town. As part of LaserCom and the Bytes Technology Group, the establishment of the plant is in line with the company's long-term growth strategy.
“PaperGeni strives to give customers the best service when it comes to envelopes, tally rolls and printer consumables, and at the most competitive rates,” says Thorsten Schafer, divisional director of PaperGeni.
“This development will enable us to substantially increase our capacity to deliver in the Eastern and Western Cape and to be more competitively priced to our local customers. At the same time, it will free up our Johannesburg resources to generate more products for export into Africa.”
Schafer says the additional capacity will allow for more rapid delivery to customers. “In emergencies, we will be able to deliver jobs in 24 hours, which is a major capability in our industry,” he adds. Advertising and other communication messages can also be added to this printed material as a value-added service.
PaperGeni has the largest national footprint in the paper tally roll market and supplies a large percentage of the major retailers and banks. Schafer says its sophisticated logistics system ensures customers around the country - including those in small towns - receive their products timeously. This is a critical consideration for PaperGeni customers as they rely on the company's products to process transactions and deliver invoices.
Schafer adds that the expansion has enabled PaperGeni to train and upskill additional staff members in Cape Town, from junior to supervisory level. “We've been able to take some of our people and prepared them to operate in a more complex and specialised printing environment.”
