Laserfiche meets content management

When Marina Medical Billing Service contacted Laserfiche about setting up a document scanning and retrieval system, the emergency care billing agency had concerns about the scalability of the Laserfiche system, says IT Jungle.

Following a demonstration, the i5/OS shop decided the Windows-based Laserfiche could handle its high-volume environment.

Before making its selection, Marina Medical Billing Service required Laserfiche to prove it could handle not only its current workload, but twice the highest load forecast generated in its upcoming expansion plans.

IBM named Gartner leader

IBM says Gartner has positioned it in the Leaders Quadrant of its new Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management, says CNN Money.

According to a recent Gartner report, IBM-File Net is the largest enterprise content management (ECM) vendor based on overall software revenue for 2006.

IBM believes its market footprint, along with its product sets and resources, positions the company well for large enterprise-wide deployments.

Content storage maintained

Gone are the days when old files were merely put in a box and hauled over to a warehouse. Many of today's call for some form of structured electronic recordkeeping, says ZDNet.

Everything from e-mails to instant messages to voicemails is now carefully maintained by organisations, so they can hand over records and e-mails, when necessary, for a government audit or litigation.

For businesses of all sizes, successful content management requires systematically applying a consistent process across an enterprise. This means designing and implementing a procedure that can preserve the integrity and trustworthiness of records across the enterprise.
