Latest Xerox technologies on show

Xerox and local distributor, Bytes Document Solutions, concluded the first day of their two-day Synergy conference at Caesars Gauteng yesterday with a demonstration of the latest printing technologies.

The demonstration by staff from both companies saw the official launch of the Xerox DocuColor 6060 Colour Press. In a 15-minute countdown, the equipment was put through its paces to produce a wide variety of documents.

As the 6060 produced full-colour posters, brochures, user-manuals, menus and book covers at 60 pages a minute with 600x600 pixels per inch resolution, representatives of the graphic arts, printing and marketing industries were shown various features such as the two 2 000-sheet media trays and the on-the-run toner reloading capabilities.

To demonstrate that consumer demand is what really drives technology, Xerox highlighted the modularity, scalability and open standard compliancy of the various products on show, including the DC 3535 copier that can deliver 35 pages a minute.

Also spotlighted was the open standard of Xerox`s Document Finishing Architecture, which allows a variety of third-party devices to connect to the DocuColor 6060 such as booklet makers and binders.

"Xerox has developed its technology to satisfy demand for customised printing, one-to-one marketing materials, shorter runs, faster turnarounds and increased production capability," says Xerox global services manager Ben Gale.
