Law school implements formal PM

The John Marshall Law School in Chicago has deployed TeamDynamixHE's project portfolio management software in its IT department, reports Campus Technology.

The software will provide a central repository for the IT staff to manage and track all projects and evaluate and allocate resources. Each IT team member has access to a customisable dashboard that shows tasks and current issues.

Previous project and portfolio management was done through Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Exchange. CTO James Velco initiated a search for a replacement after becoming frustrated by the lack of communication and oversight on projects and the inability to sort out which people were working on which projects.

RationalPlan 3.15 released

Stand By Soft has released RationalPlan 3.15, a project management software application developed to assist project managers in creating plans, progress, allocating resources, managing and analysing workload, according to PR-USA.net.

The new version comes with a major change in its planning and scheduling mechanism, an easier to use interface and some more useful features.

RationalPlan changed the scheduling mechanism so it will allow users to see the list of conflicts from a project. With this feature, project managers have the possibility to allow temporary conflicts in the project.

Nakisa selects Tenrox PM

Nakisa, an enterprise talent and organisation management solutions provider, has chosen Tenrox as its supplier of choice in its mission to streamline its resource management, project cost and revenue accounting, time tracking and billing processes, states TMCnet.

Initially, Nakisa was using manual processes and several disparate applications such as Excel, MS Project and Dynamics GP to track project time and expenses and to invoice its clients.

It was therefore a requirement to find a tool that would allow the company to have one system of record to manage all of these processes, as well as having access to real-time project cost and revenue reporting and analytics.
