Lawson Software, the only provider of Self Evident Applications (SEA) for e-business, has opened a subsidiary office in South Africa. Based in Sandton, Johannesburg, the new office will operate as Lawson Software Africa and will service South Africa and the rest of Sub Saharan Africa with immediate effect. Solit (Solutions IT) will be taking responsibility as Lawson`s primary partner in the provision of implementation and support services to Lawson customers in South Africa.
Country manager, Cliff van Tonder says, "Lawson Software Africa will focus on sales and marketing and build on the major opportunities for e-business based applications solutions." Van Tonder, previously general manager of the Lawson Division within Dimension Data division DDIS adds that Lawson Software Africa will continue to capitalise on the success obtained within the Dimension Data Group.
As a software solutions provider, Lawson Software offers role-based Web solutions for financials, human resources, procurement, supply chain and performance management. Lawson Software Africa will specifically be targeting the retail, healthcare, financial services and government (public service) markets.
Lawson Software Africa`s existing African clients include Dimension Data, Topics, SPL, Eskom and the Government of Tanzania with the Peoples` Defence Forces of Tanzania as their latest African client. Lawson Software boasts over 2 800 international clients such as McDonalds, Johnson & Johnson and McGraw Hill.
Says Van Tonder, "The African marketplace has already shown its readiness for Lawson Software and South Africa will provide a springboard for the rest of Africa. We can provide the required technology in emerging African countries, for example by replacing legacy human resources and financial systems with the Lawson Insight II human resources and financial process suites." According to van Tonder, Lawson Software Africa will be looking to build up a strong African affiliate base by appointing African partners in countries such as Botswana, Ethiopia, Mauritius and Kenya.
