Johannesburg, 14 Mar 2000

Lawson , the only provider of Self-Evident Applications (SEA) for e-business, has won IBM`s 'Top North American Contributor` award, by exceeding its revenue commitment to IBM by 202 percent in calendar year 1999.

"In addition to Lawson`s top revenue percentage," explains Cliff van Tonder, country manager, Lawson Software Africa, "IBM officials cite Lawson`s comprehensive support for IBM`s Application Framework for e-business and participation in IBM`s e-culture campaign as factors in their selection."

"Lawson`s commitment to leveraging IBM`s advanced technologies and industry leadership creates a great opportunity for them to better serve needs," says Dan Russell, director, Worldwide ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Software Sales and Marketing, IBM Software Group. "Lawson has a reputation for helping its customers successfully migrate to emerging technology platforms. Lawson`s e-business solutions are helping its customers move into the marketplace."

IBM Software Group created the Software Investment Initiative to help Independent Software Vendors incorporate IBM software products into their solutions and drive the resulting solutions to market. Lawson`s involvement in the program includes integrating IBM Net.Commerce, MQSeries and DB2 Universal Database software with its world-class line of enterprise e-business solutions and services.

"Participating in IBM`s Software Investment Initiative has helped Lawson expand its market reach, extend the e-business functionality of the company`s supply chain and procurement solutions and leverage our customers` investments in IBM technologies," says John Mulchrone, vice president, Supply Chain/Procurement Solutions, Lawson Software.
