Document Accounting Solutions has rolled out MobiTrac, a mobile phone call-logging and billing application for the southern African region.
Document Accounting Solutions director, Russel Roth, points out that consulting calls are generally never charged for, even though it could result in a potential billable income, especially for doctors and lawyers.
“When the call is finished, the information is transferred to the MobiTrac server, and bills the client accordingly. The software is downloaded onto the mobile phone in minutes,” notes Roth.
He explains that MobiTrac is well-suited to law firms and medical professions as they can bill clients for telephonic consultations at an hourly rate.
Roth says the biggest benefits to the company are securing lost revenue from cellphone calls, reduced paper work, and an automated back office process that provides a dashboard on client call patterns.
Once the application is downloaded onto the cellphone from the Internet, the user puts in the individual rate per hour they want to charge, in the Web-based back office system. At the end of the month, the customer will receive an account with charges for their call.
According to Roth, it will be up to the lawyer or doctor to inform their clients that calls are considered a consultation and will be billed.
The solution currently runs on BlackBerry phones and Windows Mobile enabled smartphones but Roth indicates it will be expanded to run on additional phones in the future.
Document Accounting Solutions is the official distributor of financial solutions provider, Equitrac, in southern Africa.
According to Roth, Equitrac's target market is the commercial, legal and educational markets with 80% of top South African law firms using the product.
