Leading analyst report positions Oracle Utilities in Leaders' Quadrant

Oracle Utilities Network Management System well positioned for the Smart Grid.

Johannesburg, 10 Jul 2009

Gartner's June 2009 Magic Quadrant for Outage Management Systems Report positions Oracle Utilities in the Leaders' Quadrant. 1

The report evaluates outage management system (OMS) vendors based on the completeness of their vision and ability to execute on that vision.

Gartner notes that vendors in the Leaders' Quadrant “are vendors that would normally be included in shortlists for OMS products for all types of utilities worldwide. They perform profitably, grow their revenue and have a presence in all major markets. Their functionality is above average, and their technology and scalability are 'leading edge.' These vendors would be followed and tracked by other OMS vendors. Leaders in this market have paired advanced technology with broad offerings or rich functionality. Additionally, they have demonstrated the financial viability needed to fuel R&D to support new technology requirements (such as Web services and SOA) and transform integrated business processes.”

The Magic Quadrant report evaluates vendors on ability to execute (including product/service, overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness and track record, marketing execution, customer experience and operations) and completeness of vision (including market understanding, marketing strategy, sales strategy, offering [product] strategy, business model, vertical/industry strategy, innovation and geographic strategy).
