The NetIQ products and their respective categories are Security Manager (Intrusion Detection Systems), WebMarshal (Internet Security), MailMarshal SMTP (Email Security) and VigilEnt Policy Center (Policy Management).
The "Best of 2003" are chosen from hundreds of products reviewed by SC Magazine throughout the year. Products are judged in five categories - features, ease of use, performance, documentation and support and value. Products included in "The Best of 2003" received five stars or were deemed a "Best Buy" or were "Recommended" in a product review in 2003.
NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP described as "stunning" and VigilEnt Policy Center deemed an "exceptional choice" received the "Best Buy" award for product reviews in February 2003 and March 2003, respectively. NetIQ Security Manager was praised in the April 2003 review of IDS products for its "comprehensive reporting and management system". NetIQ WebMarshal received five stars and was said to "offer superb value for the money".
