Leaf Wireless has concluded a deal with hTc (Hi Technology Corporation) to be its African marketing, distribution and service partner.
hTc, recently ranked by Business Week as number four in its list of Asia's best-performing companies, is the world's biggest producer of Windows Mobile-based smartphones.
hTc is the manufacturer behind many OEM-branded devices, supplying major operators around the globe, and has recently started marketing its smartphones and pocket PC devices under its own label. Leaf Wireless will no longer distribute the i-mate devices, which were one of the OEM-branded ranges manufactured by hTc.
Quinton Leigh, Managing Director of Leaf Wireless, commenting on the move, said: "The Windows Mobile platform is a fast-growing market as more and more businesses and individuals standardise on it for the compatibility it offers with their office systems, and the productivity and ease of use that goes with the familiar Windows look and feel on their mobile devices. It will bring us significant operational benefits as we are able to deal directly with the original manufacturer. Working directly with the original manufacturer will also allow us to deliver products in volume at significantly better pricing and provide the best support."
