Leaf Wireless, exclusive distributor for Africa of the i-mate range of converged mobile devices and Sierra Wireless mobile data cards, announced a major expansion into the continent with the signing of an agreement with Telebell Ltd.
Quinton Leigh, Managing Director of Leaf Wireless, stated: "This agreement is of significant strategic importance in growing our business across the African continent. In Telebell we have a committed partner, which will enable us to build our brand and provide excellent service for the customers. The region shows strong growth but has a lot of untapped potential, as mobile services can help to fill the gap where fixed-line infrastructure is limited."
Leigh adds that end-users and businesses are currently starting to see the opportunities presented by converged devices such as pocket PCs and smartphones, and the value of go-anywhere connectivity for mobile computing platforms, although access to such technology in some areas is still limited.
In terms of the agreement, Tellebel will offer the Leaf product range, backed by a comprehensive warranty, service and support infrastructure in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
