As the world catches Wimbledon fever, Lechabile Storage Solutions (LSS) has announced it will sponsor Elizabeth Moorkey, SA`s reigning Under-12 Tennis Champion, to compete in the De Blauwe Reiger Tennis Cup in Belgium. The sponsorship includes flights, accommodation and clothing.
Says Dan McMahon, CEO of LSS: "I heard Elizabeth`s radio appeal for sponsorship and as development of the youth of SA is a key focus for the company, I saw it to be a perfect opportunity for LSS to assist a future ambassador of our country. Without the financial backing necessary to enter this tournament, Elizabeth would not have been able to compete. We have full confidence in her ability to win, even at the young age of 11 years."
Moorkey began playing tennis at the age of seven. Three years later she competed in the Under-14 category, securing the title without defeat. As the current Under-12 Champion, Moorkey remains undefeated since the beginning of 2004 and recently represented Gauteng in the Under-16 category, again winning all her matches.
"It is encouraging to see such local talent and dedication. Elizabeth is determined to make her mark at Wimbledon when she turns 15 and LSS aims to support her all the way," concludes McMahon.
The De Blauwe Reiger Tennis Cup will be played from 28 June to 4 July 2004.
