Lefatshe Technologies, the South African black-owned security solutions provider and sole supplier of Webroot SpySweeper to government, will be attending this year`s Government Technology Conference (GovTech) from 30 October to 3 November at Sun City.
The conference is hosted by the State IT Agency (SITA) and is an attempt to create a platform for thought leaders from across the globe, in government and industry to exchange ideas and impart information on ICT.
Lefatshe will be showcasing a range of solutions and services. Its main focus will be the environmental monitoring products and services, Webroot SpySweeper (the world`s leading anti-adware and anti-spyware software), and Air Defense, a best-of-breed wireless intrusion and defence system.
"Government is a veritable island of opportunities for any player in the ICT sector," says Cheslyn Mostert, chairperson of Lefatshe. "However, these opportunities are only truly available to those who understand the needs of government, appreciate the restrictions that hinder the adoption of technology, and can effectively demonstrate solutions that will impact positively on operations and performance while not sucking the coffers dry. GovTech 2006 is the perfect platform from which to connect with government and its partners on every level. It is also the best place to exhibit the successes we have already enjoyed in supplying Webroot SpySweeper to government."
In its second year of existence, GovTech`s attendance is expected to exceed 1 000 delegates, including people from provincial, local and national government, CIOs, directors-general, assistant directors-general, ministers and deputy ministers. Conference sponsors include heavyweight ICT players such as GijimaAst.
"SITA plays a vital role in servicing government`s technology and communication needs," Mostert says. "This conference is designed to assist in its efforts to create partnerships with industry players, to enable communication between industry and government and to improve misguided perceptions of its existence, function and operation. There is no doubt that the conference will be successful on all three counts and that exhibitors and attendees alike will benefit from the exposure."
