Black empowerment IT company, Choice Technologies, has been appointed an enterprise service provider (ESP) by ChannelData, local distributor of Legato data storage tape drives and backup software.
Semela Tseka, MD of Choice Technologies, says the addition of Choice to the Legato channel structure in SA opens a window of opportunities for both parties in the private and government sectors.
He says securing the Legato accreditation is an important milestone for Choice. "These products will dovetail with our range of networking solutions and give us another important solution to take to market," he says.
Choice has partnerships with a number of international suppliers. These include 3Com Corporation, IBM, Compaq, Cisco, Dell, NEC, Fujitsu Siemens and Microsoft.
"One of the keys to our success is our emphasis on service and our efforts to increase the company`s intellectual capital," says Tseka. "ChannelData is supporting us in our endeavours. We have a full programme of training scheduled for our technicians and support personnel on Legato."
Andrew Kirkland, business development manager at ChannelData, says Choice will offer the full range of Legato products with an emphasis on Legato NetWorker 6.
"This is the preferred solution for addressing the data storage needs of large and small heterogeneous enterprise environments," he says. "It provides data backup and recovery for all systems, databases and enterprise servers running critical applications.
"Legato NetWorker 6 delivers the functions most needed by heterogeneous operations, such as serverless backup and library sharing for LANs or SANs. NetWorker 6 includes an advanced indexing architecture designed to increase performance and scalability," he says.
Choice Technologies is a majority black-owned company. It is one of the fastest growing IT and systems integration organisations in SA and has risen to become one of the country`s leading networking high-end solution providers. It is a major supplier of IT services to government organisations and leading companies in the private sector.
