Lenovo, Axiz sign distribution agreement

Johannesburg, 24 Nov 2009

Axiz and Lenovo have announced a distribution agreement, valid from the beginning of November. The agreement will help increase Lenovo's presence in the market by leveraging Axiz's expertise, as well as its extensive network of resellers.

Axiz has an established track record of supporting international brands, proactively developing new opportunities and working as a consultative partner to help them capitalise on emerging trends.

“Lenovo manufactures and markets reliable, high-quality, secure and easy-to-use technology products and services worldwide, so this agreement is consistent with our strategy of working with top global suppliers,” explains Craig Brunsden, Chief Marketing Officer at Axiz. “Axiz has met all the criteria that we look for in a distributor and we look forward to the long-lasting working relationship with the company,” adds David Drummond, Lenovo Senior Manager: Transactional Business.

According to Grant Rau, Category Manager at Axiz, the company saw value in adding another notebook brand to its range of products as an answer to the ever-increasing shift in the market from desktops to notebooks. “In the third quarter of this year, notebooks out-shipped desktops again. This is now a consistent trend, and with the increasing product exposure to the market, we need to keep updating our product line accordingly,” he says.

The Lenovo products distributed by Axiz will include the Think and Idea ranges. The Think range is Lenovo's corporate offering and comprises notebooks (Thinkpads), desktops (Thinkcentres), workstations (Thinkstations), servers (Thinkservers) and monitors (Thinkvision). The Idea range is the retail offering comprising notebooks, netbooks and all-in-one desktops. Axiz will also be distributing accessories and warranty options for both ranges.
