Lenovo is sharpening its focus on the small to medium enterprise (SME) market with a new series of notebooks that it says is designed specifically to meet the needs of start-ups and improving small business operations.
Lenovo country general manager, Henry Ferreira, says he is quietly confident that the introduction of the new ThinkPad Edge laptops will boost the company's presence in the local SME market. The new machines will combine good value, excellent performance and a high level of features in a sleek, modern design.
“We really set out to provide the 'must haves' for small business in a single package. What this means is a hardware/software combination that delivers on their priorities - performance, mobility and the right price. Users are not limited to their offices, which means they can run their business on the go, and use the device at any time, from any place,” said Ferreira.
Ferreira believes small businesses have become more sophisticated in their needs in recent years, and are now looking for enterprise-level technology solutions.
“Clearly, when you look at the new current generation of products, you see significantly better performance. SMEs also need the highest levels of security and connectivity: wireless, and integrated connectivity that allows you to have a system that is constantly communicating, not just when it is in a hotspot. Those kind of productivity improvements only come with the latest technologies,” he said.
To help save busy SMEs time and money, Lenovo also includes a set of productivity tools known as ThinkVantage. The Rescue and Recovery tool helps recover lost or corrupted files, the Access Connections tool helps easily connect and manage Internet connections, and Active Protection helps protect the hard drive from sudden impacts.
The laptops come equipped with:
* Choice of 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch screens
* Choice of the latest Intel Core
* Expanded multimedia features, including DVD/RW, VGA and HDMI out for watching HD content and a 7-in1 multicard reader
* Comfortable spill-resistant new contemporary-style ThinkPad keyboard with multitouch touchpad
* Heatwave red or midnight black finishes
The Edge has received the 'thumbs up' from football legend and businessman Lucas Radebe when running his own small business. The range is also backed by Lenovo's Legends team. For more information, click here.
