Lewis renews with SmartStream`s Partner Support Programme

Johannesburg, 10 Oct 2001

Household furniture retailer Lewis Stores has renewed its contract with PQ Mainstream`s Partnership Support Programme (PSP).

Lewis Stores has been a PQ Mainstream SmartStream client for three years. SmartStream interfaces with Lewis Stores` systems to provide comprehensive back-office functionality.

The Partnership Support Programme includes ensuring that established jobs run successfully, databases are tuned and sized, and performance issues are forecast accurately. PQ Mainstream, the local distributor of the SmartStream financial system from Geac, has PSP support centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

"We originally chose PSP because we needed a support package to deliver consistent service levels for deadlines and daily operations, and that could be customised to suit our daily operational needs," says Morne Mostert, chief accountant at Lewis Stores. "The programme removes the need to hire and train a technician, prevents possible problems such as system failure or overload, and ensures smooth and continuous operations during critical times, such as month-ends," says Mostert.

The PSP contract provides for planned upgrades, proactive maintenance, and speedy remedial action when problems occur.

"The business benefits lie in the fact that our system is well maintained and has predictable service levels, and that we have easy access to a pool of trained and experienced technicians," says Mostert.

"The key to our PSP success is its customisability; it can be adapted to address the specific requirements of SmartStream installations nationwide," says Kevin Scholl, managing executive of PQ Mainstream.
