Lexmark announces arrival of new C510 laser

Johannesburg, 13 May 2004

Lexmark International, SA has announced the arrival of the Lexmark C510, a laser printer that offers brilliant colour at a price any business can afford.

While the Lexmark C510 is designed for the serious business, with a base price below R7 000 (including VAT), it remains affordable for small workgroups in enterprises and small and medium-size businesses (SMBs).

The laser printer is the latest addition to a powerful line-up of colour lasers that includes the high-speed Lexmark C752L, the Lexmark C752 - which can easily be upgraded to a multifunction product (MFP) - and the wide-format Lexmark C912.

The Lexmark C510 is a hard-working printer with impressive reliability that will deliver powerful performance, superior print quality and extensive networking capability. Meaning you`ll spend less time clearing paper jams, changing toner cartridges, or calling the IT desk for help.

"While the use of colour in business documents has grown steadily, really robust business printers were often priced out of the reach of small workgroups and SMBs," says Hans Horn, managing director of Lexmark SA.

"We believe we have advanced the business printing landscape with the introduction of the C510, giving customers an easy-to-use laser which provides business-class colour at an affordable price."

Powerful performance and superior print quality

Powered by a 500MHz processor and 64MB of memory, the C510 can churn out up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and 8ppm in colour. And those pages come with 2400 Image Quality resolution for crisp and vibrant results every time.

In a recent report, QualityLogic Inc, one of the industry`s leading benchmarkers, said the Lexmark C510n was significantly faster than single pass colour lasers that were tested using Postscript, the preferred data-stream for colour printing.

Against multipass technology products on the market, the Lexmark C510n blew away the competition.

"Lexmark`s C510n consistently measured faster print times than each of the four competitors," QualityLogic said.

The Lexmark C510 also supports Lexmark`s advanced software solutions, expandable memory and paper-handling options, and has an easy to use interface. All at a price that makes the printer a viable alternative to mono laser printers.

Money-saving features

The C510 also comes with advanced tools to help manage colour printing costs, a significant consideration for both enterprises and SMBs. With Lexmark`s Colour Care technologies, customers can monitor colour use or make colour printing available to only authorised users. All options that can result in dramatic cost savings. And it does all this with a footprint that`s 20% smaller than its predecessor.

Other features of the Lexmark C510 include a 35 000-page maximum duty cycle per month, a one-year on-site warranty, and a 780-sheet maximum paper capacity. High-yield cartridges (6 600 pages colour, 10 000 pages mono) that increase productivity by reducing user interventions are also available for the Lexmark C510.

Different models for different needs

The C510n features a memory upgrade to 128MB from 64MB and an internal Ethernet network card, while the C510dtn adds a duplexer for two-sided printing and an additional 530-sheet paper tray.

"The C510 family of printers is truly revolutionary," says Horn. "It opens up a whole new world of durability and functionality for our customers at a more affordable price. It really is a game-changing product that will set the standard for our business customers and our competition."

The printer will be available as of mid-May. More information about the products can be found at www.lexmark.co.za.
