Lexmark calls for AIO expansion

Lexmark International is calling on third-party developers to expand its offering of all-in-one (AIO) printer-based applications for small and medium enterprises, reports Trade Arabia.

Lexmark says the SmartSolutions is increasingly popular among business users looking to save time and money and asked them to publish these offerings on its SmartSolutions Centre, for users to download to their Lexmark AIOs.

Registration now opens to use Lexmark's SmartSolutions Development Kit to design Adobe Flash-based business solutions, says a senior official.

Xerox invest $25m in toner plant

Xerox has revealed it will invest $25 million in the coming year to expand its emulsion aggregation (EA) toner plant to handle the increasing worldwide need for chemically grown toner used in Xerox printers and production presses, states eWeek.

The company says the project will increase Xerox's manufacturing capacity of EA Toner by 50% at the company's plant in Webster, New York.

The current EA toner plant opened in 2007 and features more than 20 miles of pipe and stainless steel tanks that produce billions of micron-sized toner particles.

OKI develops advanced LED tech

Building on its unique 20-year heritage in innovative light-emitting diode (LED) printer technology, OKI Printing Solutions has achieved a step-change improvement in LED performance with the development of an advanced new LED Thyristor Array, states TMCnet.

The new array has allowed OKI Printing Solutions to make smaller LED print heads, which in turn reduces the chassis size compared to an equivalent laser design. The result is one of the lowest height, doubled-sided A4 colour page printers in the world, especially important in the small office environment where space is at a premium.

"This new array," says Graham Lowes, marketing director, OKI Printing Solutions, “is the result of two decades of experience and expertise and allows us to comprehensively refresh our portfolio with a range of ultra-compact desktop, small workgroup printers and MFPs that consume less power and leave competitive products trailing in their wake”.
