Lexmark International has announced the introduction of two products, the Lexmark P915 Home Photo Printer and the Lexmark P6250 Home Photo Centre All-in-One, designed to dramatically change the at-home photo printing experience.
The products are the result of exhaustive research, focus groups and user testing, every aspect - from innovative industrial design and enhanced performance to unique, value-added bonus features - these two new products will simplify the digital photo printing process for busy families.
Kristy Holch, a Group Director at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures, observed: "Consumer photo printing has not quite kept pace with the proliferation of digital cameras. Consumer comments reveal the causes, such as too many steps in the printing process and lack of time."
The Lexmark P915 Home Photo Printer and the Lexmark P6250 Home Photo Centre All-in-One are persuasive alternatives to products from other printer manufacturers and challenge the appeal of photo kiosks at large retail outlets.
Says Hans Horn, managing director of Lexmark SA: "Until now, customers who sought quality, fast prints saw home photo printing as a complex sequence of button-pushing and program navigation. With these two products those days are over. The P915 and P6250 are so sophisticated yet so easy, it`s like harnessing the power of a large photo kiosk."
Advanced features, simple photo printing
Lexmark has long been known for its purposeful design, but the Lexmark P915 and P6250 take that development philosophy to new heights. Both products are infused with features that render the photo printing process quick and intuitive. The hub of both photo printers is located front and centre at the LCD display, offering unconventional help to make users` life easier.
The 2.5-inch colour LCD features:
* Built-in video instructions - a video demonstration, which visually walks the user through the steps of replacing cartridges, while they are changing the cartridge.
* Countdown timer - busy consumers can multitask while printing their photos, as a timer counts down how long it will take to generate output.
* Print preview - when using these products in standalone mode, the colour LCD previews how the printed image will appear.
Additional features that make the printing experience easier include:
* Smart software - designed to integrate with Lexmark`s technology, the Imaging Studio Software helps novice users effortlessly execute photo editing features such as red-eye reduction, cropping and re-sizing, when in PC-attached mode.
* Photo Scan Guide - The P6250 offers blue LED lights that serve as a reminder of where the top left corner of your document should be placed when scanning a document, for quick document placement -- every time.
The P915 and P6250 offer on-board camera card readers that support PictBridge technology and feature six-colour output with borderless capabilities. Images can be produced with resolution of up to 4 800 x 1 200 dots per inch with inks that last for decades under display conditions. (* See note)
The Accu-Feed paper handling system allows for easy switching of media, while sensing technology detects the loaded media type and adjusts the driver for the best possible output. While an embedded storage compartment within the P6250, accommodates a replacement cartridge, so the user can always have an extra one close-at-hand.
Continues Horn: "Internationally we assimilated mountains of data about busy families and incorporated our findings to create products with unique features and benefits."
