Lexmark golf day scores a hole in one for Cotlands

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2004

Lexmark SA recently hosted its third annual CRIB (Cartridge Recycling Initiative for Babies) golf day at Dainfern Country Club. The company, its partners and a celebrity-endorsed field managed to raise over 1 500 Baby Days for Cotlands - a beneficiary of the CRIB Initiative.

The printing giant started the CRIB initiative in April 2002 as an extension of its Siyaphambili project - an umbrella name for various projects whereby Lexmark is able to make a direct and valuable contribution to South African communities. A Baby Day is a contribution converted to the clothing, feeding, housing and care of one child at Cotlands for the period of one day.

Attracting an enormous response from its business partners as well as a host of local celebrities and media, the golf day also acted as the backdrop of the Lexmark cheque handover to Cotlands for the third quarter of 2004.

Carte Blanche`s Derek Watts and 94.7`s Graeme Joffe facilitated the handing over of the cheque for 1 683 Baby Days for the quarter. The company has managed to raise over 4 277 Baby Days to date this year - tallying the overall total of days since inception of the programme at 14 000.

Says Hans Horn, managing director of Lexmark SA: "The success of CRIB has always been about the support we receive from the community, our customers, business partners and media friends. The golf day proved to be a key contributing factor to the success, as it provides an ideal platform for the industry to come together in a relaxed and giving environment."

The company also took the golf day as an opportunity to pre-launch its latest inkjet photo printer products: the Lexmark P915 Home Photo Printer and the Lexmark P6250 Home Photo Centre All-in-One, designed to dramatically change the at-home photo printing experience. Photographs of the players were taken digitally on the day and printed on-site on the new products. The photos were available later in the evening for players to take home as a reminder of the day.

"We are thrilled at this year`s support for the CRIB programme and the golf day at large. At Lexmark we are continually supporting activities in which we can give back to the community and play an active role as a responsible corporate citizen - a goal we would not be able to achieve without the help of those people who feed into and from the Lexmark community," ends Horn.
