Venture Computer, the sole distributor in Southern Africa for Lexmark International, today launched the second in the `Print Gallery` collection of high-resolution CD-ROMs. The new CD- ROM, which is the next step in the company`s partnership with the French Reunion des musees nationaux (RMN) to help promote the use of art at home, is named `Sea Journeys` and contains over 100 masterpieces related to man and the ocean. The new collection is available to Lexmark customers with the company`s latest range of Z family inkjet printers.
Michel Dermont, Vice-President and General Manager of Lexmark`s Consumer Printer Division Europe comments, "With works from internationally-renowned galleries like Berlin`s Nationalgalerie, the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and the National Gallery in London, the Z family of printers offers customers high-resolution art-quality printing. The CD-ROMs are a vital tool in helping people familiarise themselves and learn more about art by building up their own collections."
Along with access to over 100 beautiful works of art including Cezanne`s The Sea at L`Estaque Gauguin`s Women of Tahiti and Gericault`s The Raft of the Medusa, customers can benefit from an enhanced user interface including exclusive insights about the artist for each painting, roll-over visualisation of the masterpieces and a 400 percent zoom for easy exploration of each piece. To encourage the use of the art, the CD-ROM incorporates a Print Workshop enabling the end user to print the painting in poster, bookmark or business card format with a simple mouse click.

The Print Gallery Collection - Over 100 Printable Masterpieces
The second CD-ROM in the series, entitled Sea Journeys contains images of some of the most impressive works of art owned by galleries including Musee du Louvre and Musee d`Orsay Paris, The National Gallery, London, the Muzeul National de Arta al Romaniei, Bucharest, The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, and Stadelsches Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt. Subsequent CD-ROMs are scheduled to appear approximately every six months and will allow users to continue to build their own personal museum of classic masterpieces.
As a further step to increase public awareness of Europe`s art, RMN and Lexmark have created a joint web site www.print-art.com Users can access information about the history of printing, on- line help for the Print Gallery CDs and up-to-date information on exhibitions. The site also includes access to the RMN online shopping boutique, a direct link to RMN museums and acts as a portal to leading edge art Websites.
