Printer manufacturer Lexmark has unveiled a range of all-in-one (AIO) inkjet printers with Web-connection for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Mark Hiller, MD for Lexmark SA says, “These new devices are less about speeds and feeds, and more about the applications and software that allows for increased functionality to home and business users. We have made them more interactive and more intuitive.”
According to Bill Lucas, global solutions manager at Lexmark, who was in SA to attend the event, the new range comprises seven devices, including three Web-connected (WiFi) touch-screen AIOs featuring the company's myTouch capacitive 4.3-inch touch-screens.
The screens have SmartSolutions technology, making the printers simple to use. “We have incorporated easy-to-read icons in the user interface, because it is more explanatory than text and makes navigation much simpler,” Lucas explains.
He adds that most user functions have been placed at the beginning of menus to save time in getting a specific job done.
The SmartSolutions technology together with the Web-connectivity of the devices also allows for SMEs to gain access to enterprise workflow capabilities more affordably, assisting them to become more efficient, adds Lucas.
These capabilities include creating individual templates for staff members in the company, group faxing, scan to e-mail templates, and double-sided printing options.
According to Lucas, the SmartSolutions technology has also been built to leverage third-party developers that create tailored applications. These can be added as they are released, accessed via the Web and sent to the printer, accessible through the widget on the printer touch-screen.
The new printers also feature Vizix ink technology, with separate ink cartridges, faster printing speeds and increased quality, says Hiller.
The Web-connected touch-screen is available in the Platinum, Prestige and Interact models in the new line, priced at R 4 499, R3 399, and R2 299 respectively.
