Lexmark unveils apps printer

Lexmark has unveiled what the company describes as the industry's first single-function monochrome A4 laser printer with a touch-screen, reports PC Mag.

According to Lexmark, the T656dne is a "solutions-based product," as its seven-inch colour touch-screen provides access to preloaded and customisable applications, such as 'forms and favourites', which reduces waste associated with pre-printed forms.

Other applications include 'showroom', which demonstrates the possibilities of using the touch-screen as a unique communications medium, and 'change background', allowing businesses to display a company logo or personalise the background image.

Ricoh offers cash-back

Printer vendor Ricoh has introduced a cash-back offer designed to give sales a shot in the arm, states Computing.co.uk.

The promotion allows end-users to claim back up to £70 (R830) on selected printers, including its new SP1100SF Mono MFP model, until the end of the year. Ricoh is encouraging its to promote the deal, which is only available through authorised partners, through point-of-sale or online activity.

Colour laser printers and multi-function printers, mono laser printers, and colour gel printers are all included in the promotion.

Xerox intros Phaser 6140

Xerox has released its Phaser 6140 colour laser printer, the successor to the Phaser 6130, says PrinterComparison.

The Phaser 6140 single function printer share a similar platform with the Phaser 6130, but offers new enhancements. New features include increased print speeds up to 19ppm in colour and 21ppm in black and white, a monthly duty cycle up to 40 000 pages, a standard 250-sheet cassette, Ethernet networking and print resolution up to 600 x 600 x 4 dpi.

Like its predecessor, the Phaser 6140 features small cartridges for a compact build and easy side installation. Cartridges feature the Xerox EA toner for fine line detail and vivid colours.
