LG Electronics (LGE) SA has extended its IT product range by introducing a range of networking products into the local market.
Made official with the recent appointment of Arrow Altech Distribution as dedicated networking distributor, the LG product line includes routers, switches, hubs, PCMCIA cards, LAN cards and ISDN terminal adapters. Deon Botha, account manager: IT products at LGE SA, maintains that the products were designed to be cost-effective, as well as offer ease-of-use, high speed, security, fault tolerance and redundancy, to meet the requirements of diverse organisations.
"Entering the networking arena was an important strategic decision for LG," comments Botha. "We identified a gap in the global networking market, which could be easily filled. There is quite a discrepancy between low and high-priced networking products. This is why LG decided to enter the mid-range market - offering well-priced networking products of exceptional quality."
Aimed at both the SOHO (Small Office, Home Office) and corporate sectors, Botha believes that this is especially important to the local market. "Given South Africa`s current financial situation, SOHO and larger businesses alike are looking for quality equipment at an affordable price," he says.
LG`s routers offer integrated hub functionality and optional WAN (Wide Area Network) modules to save costs and simplify implementations and expansions.
The company`s wide range of switches provides flexible application and expansion, while the integrated hub-switch function and optional modules aid in saving from unnecessary expenses.
"There are no hidden costs for memory, cables or software in either the switch or router range," says Botha. "Web-based management also simplifies configuration and trouble-shooting."
