LG Electronics, the true high-definition digital TV leader

LG Electronics Digital Display Company shared its eye-catching high-definition picture quality and innovative DTV technology to the public at the IFA 2005 in Germany.
Johannesburg, 09 Sep 2005

With the goal of becoming the top display company global by 2010, LG Electronics has showcased its credentials as one of the leaders in HDTV by an impressive showing at the IFA 2005 show in Germany.

LG successfully managed to demonstrate why high-resolution picture quality was essential for large-size TVs by presenting high quality visual content on the innovative HD display products.

To demonstrate the potential of full-HD, 1 920x1 080 resolution, products such as the world`s first commercialised 71-inch plasma TV and the world`s most compact 60-inch full-HD plasma TV led the pack with the most detailed picture quality possible.

A selected group of LCD and plasma TV models, with integrated digital tuners, displayed LG`s market-leading digital broadcast transmission technology. These devices enable consumers to enjoy digital broadcasting without the need of separate decoders.

The gold-plated 71-inch plasma TV grabbed immediate attention with its mammoth size, amazing full-HD resolution and luxurious gold design. If the gold-plated plasma TV was just too bright for your tastes, the award-winning PY2 series provided an equally breath-taking experience. The gloss-black plasma has already received numerous awards such as the Red Dot award for its original stylish design.

The PX4 and PX5 series have been instrumental in setting the standard for plasma TVs with their clear and vibrant picture quality and user-friendly functions such as X-studio, which allow users to enjoy digital photos on the screen.

The 55-inch LCD TV, 55LP1, was the main attraction in the LCD range. The jazzy-looking LCD, with a built-in digital decoder, is currently the world`s largest commercialised LCD TV and has been acknowledged with a CeBIT innovations award.

Also on show, the LX2 series represented a more affordable LCD and raised the standard of analogue-based LCDs with its premium quality. The 26LZ5RV, an LCD TV with an integrated DVD player, added some spice to the line-up by providing a medium-sized but compact TV that can playback DVDs. All three LCD TVs are also HD-ready products.

"Presenting state-of-the-art display products at the IFA show, historically a place where many cutting-edge new products are unveiled, is a strong expression of the pride we have in our products," says Kwang-ho Yoon, executive vice-president of LGE PDP. "This will provide a real platform for securing the number one position in the digital display market."
