LG Electronics unveils the Super Multi Drive

Johannesburg, 04 May 2004

LG Electronics, the world`s No. 1 in optical storage devices, has just launched a device which will end the debate over which storage format is the best. LG`s Super Multi Drive can write to all the different DVD and CD formats, ensuring there is no need for multiple devices.

LG`s Super Multi Drive is the pinnacle of optical storage technology as it combines write/record and the other features of conventional optical storage products like DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, and CD-R/RW into one single drive.

The ATAPI drive corresponds with all write-types of DVDs and CDs as recognised by the DVD Forum and is compatible with both DVD minus and DVD-RAM standards. Thanks to the high level of data security and rewritable capacity of up to 100,000 times with DVD-RAM, this format is especially suitable for regular data storage. Hence, the new Super Multi Drive resolves the perennial industry argument on standards for DVD recording.

LG`s Super Multi Drive also has DVD-R/RW, suitable for reproducing perfect copies of DVD movies and music. This medium offers highly reliable recording capabilities and is suitable for high-volume data storage. It can also write CD-R and CD-RW. In other words, LG`s Super Multi Drive can easily read, write, and/or re-write any type of CD or DVD.

The GSA-4020B uses buffer under-run prevention technology to minimize errors and ensure writing reliability. The product is also fully compatible with Windows XP/ME/Professional 2000/98 operating systems and runs at the highest writing speed in the Windows XP environment.

Since securing the top position in global optical storage in 1998, LG Electronics has maintained the leadership in this area with an impressive sales growth. The company now boasts an unprecedented 24% of the global optical storage market.

The GSA-4082 is available and retails for R1399.00.
