LG Electronics has introduced its high-speed CD-RW (CD Re-Writable) drive, with 12-speed CD write, 8-speed CD rewrite and 32-speed CD play capabilities - the best in speed in its line.
"In particular, with 8MB of buffer memory, stability was improved by minimising problems that could occur during high-speed data recording," says Jaehong Kim, product manager: IT products, LG Electronics SA.
The CD-RW drive can be installed vertically, as well as horizontally, while being fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and NT server.
"This CD-RW drive offers higher performance than others products of its type. Its average data processing speed has been improved to less than 100ms (1/10 of second) and disk compatibility is the best among the same product range," explains Kim
Demand for CD-RWs is growing rapidly. "Unlike CD-ROM drives that can only read stored data, a CD-RW can record data repeatedly for more than 1,000 times," he says.
LGE predicts that the world market size will double from last year`s 15 million units to 30 million units ($3 billion) this year. The LGE CD-RW drive will be available in South Africa from November this year.
