Libraries get self-service counters

Libraries across York are to be fitted with self-service counters to provide users with easier access to tens of thousands of books, states Yorkshire Post.

The new technology is the first of its type to be used in the city and will be installed at the Explore Acomb Library Learning Centre this month before the systems become available on 1 September.

It is hoped the self-service stations will eventually be used in all the council's 14 libraries across the city, amid plans to attract a new audience by relying on the new technology.

IBM, EMN8 provide restaurant solutions

IBM and EMN8 are jointly , marketing, and supporting EMN8's self-service order and pay kiosk products, according to PR Newswire.

EMN8 products are designed mainly for deployment in the quick service restaurant (QSR) and fast casual dining (FCD), segments of the broader sector where IBM has a strong presence.

As part of the agreement, EMN8 will transition production of its OrderM8 4000 kiosk hardware platform to IBM.

Tech drives self-service beer

TableTap is being unveiled in the UK, with an exclusive patent, to offer a technology-driven, self-service beer distribution product which can revitalise the way bars and customers manage the consumption of draught beer, writes SourceWire.

Incorporating cutting-edge design with high-level electronic reporting options, flow meter and valve systems, the company says TableTap can transform the way a bar operates as well as giving the customer a new experience.

The technology gives back office, real-time reporting to assist in reducing wastage, with every drop accounted for, monitoring staff productivity via individual RFID cards, and increasing overall profitability.
