LiCie looks to SMEs

LaCie have released two new storage servers intended for small workgroups, states Slash Gear.

The LaCie Big Disk Network and d2 Network can each support up to 50 users (15 simultaneously), with the Big Disk having dual Raid 0 drives for up to 4TBs capacity, while the d2 Network has 1.5TB of its own storage plus an eSata port for adding external high-speed drives.

Del Mar, LaCie product manager for office network solutions, says: “Data storage needs are becoming increasingly significant in homes and small offices.”

Pitney Bowes, Eastman Kodak team up

Stamford-based Pitney Bowes has entered into a partnership with Eastman Kodak to help its customers turn paper documents into files that can be retrieved through a Web-based search engine, says The Adocate.

The system, called Imaging and Workflow Solutions, scans paper documents and automatically indexes them into a central, secure repository.

This system allows companies to establish business rules on how information is captured, filed and accessed and merge the digitised documents with other electronic files. It also enables users to find files or parts of particular documents through a keyword search and update them in digital format.

Naxos drives digital asset management

Global Media Solutions, a provider of information management software for media companies, has signed an agreement with Ringier Pacific, the Asian subsidiary of Swiss publishing giant Ringier AG, to install Naxos Archive in two of the company's offices in China, reports DBusiness News.

Naxos Archive's management system tags digital files such as audio, video, text and PDF files from multiple sources.

“This installation will involve two Linux clusters,” says Michael Tucker, president of Global Media Solutions. “It will help employees in either office search the entire database of both locations, or just their local server.”
