Lifeline buys BI firm

By Iain Scott, ITWeb group consulting editor
Johannesburg, 10 Sept 2004

Life Line Technologies (Lifeline) says its acquisition of 51% of warehouse and company Planning Services (BIPS) gives it access to the private sector.

Lifeline provides business and technology consulting services and solutions mainly to government and parastatals, energy and mining, financial services, IT and telecommunications industries.

"This acquisition opens doors for Lifeline in the private sector because of the blue chip clients brought in by BIPS," says Lifeline MD Andile Mfingwana.

He says management recognised the value that could be added to the business by introducing business intelligence.

BIPS MD Bertie van Zyl remains on the board while Lifeline director Andre Petersen will take the role of MD, with Mfingwana as CEO.
