Lift intros suggestive selling tech
Lift Retail Marketing Technology has unveiled its Lift Station platform - an integrated suggestive selling point-of-sale technology for convenience stores, states Kansascity.com.
The CEO and founder of Lift, Doug Kruep, says: “Retailers are looking to grow sales by being more shopper-relevant and the Lift Station helps them do that like never before.”
When an item is scanned at the checkout counter, the Lift Station performs real-time analytics, displays the most relevant up-sell offer to the shopper, and displays a selling script for the cashier, he adds.
Canada delays secure payment system
Pushed by "very high (transaction) failure rates", Visa and MasterCard have simultaneously granted Canadian retailers a six-month extension on a key chip-and-PIN move, says CBS News.
The change was announced just weeks before the card brands planned to shift a critical liability, which would have made retailers fully accountable for fraud if they chose to not use the card chips and to use the older mag-stripe instead.
The delay is quite significant. Following the UK's shift to chip-and-PIN in 2004, Canada's efforts have been watched closely by retailers in other countries - especially the US - where Wal-Mart has been strongly pushing for national adoption.
Footasylum virtualises servers
Footasylum, a footwear and apparel retail store, has migrated its IT infrastructure to a new virtualised server solution, writes Web Newswire.
The virtualised server is managed and supplied by K3 Retail, a UK provider of Microsoft Dynamics, in order to support its ambitious long-term expansion plans.
According to the company, the new server solution from K3 Retail allows faster reporting from stores, while branches are also able to send stock replenishment reports directly to the warehouse. This has given the business confidence that the system in place is more resilient.
