Stratus and Light Edge Technology have joined forces in a deal which enables Light Edge to sell the Stratus ftServer range in sub-Saharan Africa, with immediate effect. The move enhances the Light Edge conventional server offering as it enables the company to offer a comprehensive range of Status fault-tolerant server platforms which deliver up to a 100% uptime.
"Our deal with Stratus was a strategic move aimed at placing Light Edge in an ideal position to service our clients' more business critical needs," says Grant Poulton, managing director of Light Edge.
"When we started Light Edge 11 years ago we were a generic distributor. We slowly migrated to being a value-added distributor with PC integration. Now we have reached the level of 'platform integration specialist' for mobile, desktop, conventional servers and fault-tolerant servers.

"Our evolving product and service offering facilitated our entry into certain vertical markets, aligning well to the Stratus value proposition in banking, manufacturing and telecoms sectors. In addition to the standard requirements for conventional servers, these markets have a need for fault-tolerant servers to underpin business-critical applications. It was with this need in mind that we decided to partner with Stratus, a partner that can truly offer the highest levels of availability. This, together with our Intel Premier Provider and Microsoft OEM status, makes Light Edge a solutions provider of choice for local IT decision-makers," Poulton concludes.
"We see Light Edge as an agile partner who has a very good platform strategy. With our greater combined value proposition, we foresee great success in our common industry segments," says Dick Sharod, country manager Stratus SA.
