Lightedge, a leading national IT distributor and technology services company specialising in advanced Microsoft infrastructures, hardware platform integration and headquartered in Cape Town, expects to grow its business by 20% during the next financial year.
Leveraging off its traditional business base, this growth will be significantly supported by the success of Lightedge`s recently established SLA division and its newly launched software development division, Lightedge Applied Concepts.
Lightedge Applied Concepts was formed to enrich the company`s offering to clients. Grant Poulton, Lightedge`s managing director, says: "We can now offer everything from hardware to software to IT support under one roof."
This new software division is able to develop anything from an e-commerce Web site to an integrated Web-based inventory management and order processing system. The integrated e-business and information management solutions are designed to be platform independent so they can run on any hardware or software platform.
Poulton says: "The new division will provide application development, data mining, business analysis and design services. We are excited at the internal systems already being produced by the software division that will enable Lightedge to provide an even better service to their end-users along with the provision of development services to our existing clients."
What makes Lightedge`s software offering different from that of competitors is its in-depth planning and discovery process. The entire solution is developed on paper to eliminate any confusion or unmatched client expectations.
"Just as an architect develops the entire build on paper before commencing construction, software architects need to devote enough time to the business and planning process to build successful solutions," says Peter Moss, Lightedge Applied Concepts` business development manager.
Lightedge`s involvement in both the software and hardware aspects of its clients` IT set-ups will see clients benefit from timely, effective support due to its familiarity with both the hardware and software implementations. This, Moss explains, is a key benefit as Lightedge Applied Concepts will be fully accountable to the client for the entire solution with no supplier conflict and near zero downtime for the end-user.
Moss has over a decade of software development experience to his credit. Among other things, he was the founder and lead of Sage`s top solutions centre in the UK with many FTSE 100 clients running bespoke software implemented by Moss and his team. Sage is the world`s number one accounting software company, owning well-known brands such as Softline and Accpac.
Poulton says: "With Peter`s track record in South Africa coupled with his 11 years offshore experience, we have every confidence in his ability to turn this software division into a thriving new business unit in the next year. With a number of exciting projects already confirmed in their first two weeks, they are off to a good start."
Established in 1993 and headquartered in Cape Town, the company has a national footprint with regional offices and showrooms in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit and Windhoek. Through this national network it offers clients superior products and systems from recognized names such as Intel, Stratus, Rose, Canon, SMC Networks, MSI, QCA, Aten, Transcend, Microsoft, Datafab and others.
