Candice Poulton, HR Director at Lightedge, has been nominated for the 2006 Regional Business Achiever of the Year Award in the corporate category. The awards are run annually by the Businesswomen`s Association, the largest and most prominent association of business and professional women in South Africa, and are sponsored by Nedbank.
Poulton was nominated for the award in recognition of her work at Lightedge. The company was recently voted by resellers as the Preferred IT Company to Work for in 2006, in a survey run by CRN magazine.
"We really do try to make the working environment a better place for everyone," says Poulton.
"We look at each staff member individually in order to determine what training would be best for them. We`ve also done a lot of work on our BEE scorecard and we now have a rating of 46.44%, which means that we`re a satisfactory contributor to black economic empowerment.
Poulton is also an active member of the Sunset Beach chapter of the Union of Jewish Women. This sees her giving back to the community through her involvement in a number of projects which are aimed at supporting children in need and giving dignity back to the elderly.
The Regional Business Achiever Awards actively seek to identify, acknowledge and reward achievers in the following categories: entrepreneurs, professionals, start-up and corporate. Panel interviews will be held in May and the winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
