Lightedge, a leading national IT solutions and services company, has been awarded Intel's national Best SMB Solution award for the deployment of a new PC infrastructure at the University of Cape Town.
Consisting of a phased roll-out that began in 2001, the desktop PC systems installed are Lightedge's Emerald Computers, now numbering over 6 500 machines.
In the past year alone, Lightedge installed about 1 200 new desktops and 23 new servers for the University.
"We base this annual award on the feedback we receive from the end customer, and from our technical team's evaluation of how the system integrator performed. What is key for us in selecting the winner is that they not only supply high-quality PCs, but add significant extra value in terms of consulting and recommendations on the appropriate hardware, implementation services and a smooth handover, and then provide ongoing support.
"Lightedge did an outstanding job at UCT, giving the university a reliable, robust PC infrastructure that should last them many years," said Sven Beckmann, channel manager at Intel South Africa.
Intel announced the awards at its recent partner event where it lauded top systems integrators for solutions in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
"We are very proud to receive this award from Intel, a highly respected international technology leader. Over the years we have spent a lot of effort building up our desktop offering from a basic locally-assembled PC to a very high-quality machine that meets the highest certification standards from Intel for hardware, and Microsoft, for software," says David Musikanth, marketing director at Lightedge.
"Our promise to our customers is that we will give them top quality systems backed by highly-skilled support technicians and that even once the sale is complete, we'll stick with them to make sure everything continues to work well."
