Lighthouse pleases football fans

At the climax of the recent Euro 2008 tournament, thousands of football fans descended on Vienna for the final between Spain and Germany, reports Quamnet.

UEFA had organised an official 'Fan Zone'. Featuring state-of-the-art Lighthouse LED screens supplied by one of the Europe's leading screen rental companies, Medien Werkzeuge, to give ticketless supporters a chance to join in the football frenzy.

The most fundamental facilities for the Fan Zones are the LED screens which offer high-contrast ratios and colour reproduction, as well as clarity over long distances and in all climatic conditions.

XPJ projector aims at gamers

Olens Technology has introduced its XPJ Personal Entertainment Projector (PEP), a $279 video projector compatible with gaming systems and computers, says Mac World.

The XPJ is a low-cost projector aimed at gamers on a limited budget.

The XPJ PEP can project an image from 40 to 70 inches, though it's limited to 640 x 480 pixel VGA resolution.

It sports an analogue VGA, AV composite and S-Video input, along with built-in stereo speakers. It also includes a remote control and an RCA audio-video cable.

The AV experience of the future

For consumers still living with a standard-definition television, DVD-quality video is generally accepted as good enough. For the latest whiz-bang high-definition plasma, Blu-ray or HD-DVD is optimal, says PC World.

However, talking about technology of the future, the publication says one possibility is ultra-high-definition video (UHDV), a standard proposed by Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

UHDV operates at a video resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels, which is 16 times the pixel count of today's most advanced Full HD screens, which operate at 1920 x 1080 pixels.
