Hospitality Technology International (HTI), a hospitality-focused IT company, and KC/2, a black-empowered IT company, have secured a tender to manage real-time accommodation bookings for lodges falling under Limpopo Regional Tourism.
The move gives Limpopo`s provincial tourism facilities online, real-time bookings.
The companies have rolled out E-Res software designed by HTI at 14 Limpopo Regional Tourism lodges in the Polokwane area so far.
E-Res is a central reservation system (CRS), described as an online multi-destination single booking solution. The system was originally developed after a R2.5 million investment and financial assistance from the Industrial Development Corporation, and took two years to develop.
"Customers can see vital information within the group by accessing one screen and performing multiple bookings in real-time," says James Montgomery, MD of HTI.
"Competition is getting tougher each year in the hospitality industry and customers are getting smarter, and more demanding.
"In most cases, hotels are unable to see all their inventory on one screen and have to dial into other locations to check on availability, then make bookings. While this type of system is still widely used, it is clumsy and does not give a hotel or resort a real edge," he says.
KC/2, a Pietersburg-based company established late last year, provides the full service CRS system and training as the sole agent for the Limpopo area. "It is a dream come true," KC/2 MD Kenneth Kubeya says of the project.
"In terms of the agreement, KC/2 will handle basic first line activities, including training," says Montgomery. "Our primary activities are to offer technical users support, providing engineers, designers, upgrades, and handle equipment failure. We are accountable for ultimate support."
