"The roll-out of Linux Holdings` training in Durban is now complete and training starts in full swing from 4 July 2005. This is the third such roll-out; the first two were Pretoria and Johannesburg. Durban has much to offer the open source community and we have much to offer Durban," says Kin Le Roux, Director of communications.
Alan McKinnon, Director of Training, says: "We are very excited to be able to introduce our services to the people of Durban and surroundings. My mission of producing LPI-certified Linux administrators will continue in Durban and later this year in Cape Town. Our core focus is training, and we do have another agenda on the table - make SA the number one example of the sheer power of open source."
We believe that we can offer many firsts for Durban. With immediate effect Linux administration courses, OpenOffice.org courses, participation in LPI mass exams, LPI cramming sessions and assessments will be available in Durban. McKinnon will do the Linux essentials course on 4 July. There are only a handful of LPI-certified system administrators in the country but McKinnon has taken on the challenge to increase this number at least tenfold.
We did it in Johannesburg and we will do it in Durban as well!
We are very confident that our Durban academy will turn out some of the best Linux administrators in SA and also be one of our most active academies nation-wide. Administration functions will still be done from the head office in Johannesburg. New training, quality and certifications departments will exist in their own right in Durban. Linux Holdings` most senior policy has always been "all our services will be of the highest quality - always", and Durban will not be any different. McKinnon will do most of the training himself initially to ensure quality standards are firmly established from the beginning.
