Marco Lippuner has been appointed VP and MD of Siemens IT Solutions and Services SA.

This appointment follows the departure of Zunaid Mayet, who recently joined M-IT as MD.

Lippuner has been with the Siemens Group since 1992. For the past two years, Lippuner was head of sales and country development for the Siemens IT Solutions and Services division. In 2008, he was appointed sector cluster head for Russia, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

There is considerable untapped potential in the South African and African markets, and Siemens should capitalise on this, Lippuner notes.

“My chief tasks are to develop Siemens IT Solutions and Services SA into a successfully growing business, and to ensure our customers are satisfied with our services. One of my first steps will be to develop close relationships with our customers, so I can understand their requirements, listen and act accordingly. My objective is to gain the trust and respect of our employees, as well as our customers,” he says.

Lippuner, who was responsible for Siemens Communication Group's fixed business for Southern Africa, along with the Central and Southern Europe regions, believes his past experiences will also contribute to his new role.

“Information technology has developed from a specialist topic to become the backbone of virtually all business processes, where the ability to interlink all the diverse IT components in an enterprise - from the device level to production planning, right through to the overarching control systems - is becoming increasingly important in all sectors,” Lippuner says.
