Liquid Thought named as a top ICT company in SA

Liquid Thought has been listed as a top ICT company in SA as defined in the "Top ICT Companies in SA" 2003/4 publication, researched and produced by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF).

The CRF is an international organisation that enlightens a wide audience about corporate culture and successful business strategies. The "Top ICT Companies in SA" publication has been produced by a strong team of researchers, made up of members of the local ICT industry and financial press. The research team nominated and researched a selection of top ranking companies from telecommunications providers to training companies.

Liquid Thought is one of the successes of Cape Town's UUNET Bandwidth Barn. The company is an innovative, young and dynamic business solutions provider and offers multi-platform technology solutions that help clients to leverage and optimise their IT investment.

Zulfiq Isaacs, Managing Director of Liquid Thought, ascribes Liquid Thought's success to its ability to constantly innovate, evolve and accelerate their customers' businesses by identifying ways in which to extend the market reach of their services, and improving channels of customer service delivery via the Web. The company does this by introducing smarter ways of doing business, using technology and leveraging its extensive Web expertise and experience.

Liquid Thought specialises in multi-tier cross-platform Web-based applications that are rich in functionality and are aesthetically pleasing in presentation. From content managed corporate Web sites to corporate intranets and knowledge portals, the company provides turnkey solutions on the Web that empower organisations and their people to communicate and collaborate more effectively both internally and with their clients.

Another service provided by the company is to assist clients in streamlining operations and consolidating information that resides in disparate systems, through process automation and systems integration. Most businesses do not invest in one single technology platform and as result, data is dispersed across multiple applications, systems and platforms. This becomes more and more of an issue as the business grows, causing the problem to be compounded over time. Very often this leads to redundancy and duplication of data, resulting in increased business overhead and losses in productivity.

"To extract value from your data, systems need to talk to each other," says Isaacs. "Business integration is a key driver towards achieving real competitive advantage and begins with the automation of processes internally before one can integrate with systems outside of the organisation," he adds.

Liquid Thought's own products include innovative Web and mobile solutions, which range from an intuitive, template-based Web site building tool to a location-based asset tracking mobile solutions product. The Site Builder is aimed at assisting the novice Web user to create a Web site using a wizard-like tool to populate data in a predefined design template. The tool enables users to manage and publish content in a user-friendly environment, both online and offline, and is geared for the SOHO and SME markets. The mobile asset management product uses a personal digital assistant (PDA) with a built-in scanner to capture barcodes and serial numbers. Information can be downloaded via a cellphone using Bluetooth or GPRS (general packet radio service) communication protocols and can be fully integrated with an organisation's existing asset management system.

"Technology is there as an enabler to support the strategy and operation of your business. It does not drive your business," says Isaacs. "We aim to deliver business solutions that work for you and provide you with a return on investment that is tangible and can be measured either through gains in productivity, efficiency, market share or profit," he adds.
