Litigation drives e-mail governance

A new survey from MessageGate reveals that preparing for future litigation has been named as the leading factor behind e-mail adoption, according to Businesswire.

Preparation for future litigation received 29% of the approximately 250 survey responses, while adhering to received 21%, mitigation 20%, and gaining a better understanding of e-mail usage received 17%.

"Businesses are finding it increasingly difficult and expensive to manage e-mails as legal business documents, especially as e-mail continues to be the top form of electronic evidence requested during litigation. Practical e-mail governance eases message recovery to reduce skyrocketing e-discovery costs," says Robert Pease, VP of marketing for MessageGate.

Gartner explains SOA governance

Gartner`s research VP Paolo Malinverno says service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance is about discipline and making sure that the important decisions go through to appropriate people for input, according to SearchWebServices.com.

This is half the problem, Malinverno said, and the second half is making sure the decisions are actually followed through.

"It`s not only about setting a speed limit, it is about enforcing it too and eventually giving people tickets or sending them to jail. That is what SOA governance really is about," says Malinverno.

Genpact acquires Axis Risk Consulting

Genpact has entered an agreement to acquire Axis Risk Consulting Services for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will expand the company`s governance and risk management solution portfolios, reports Global Services.

Currently, internal audit tasks require manual inputs, creating high compliance costs, particularly for companies with worldwide operations. With the Axis acquisition, Genpact will combine its strengths in process and technology with Axis` experienced audit staff and automated control testing to offer a comprehensive internal audit service.

Closing of the acquisition is subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals in India, in addition to other standard conditions.
