Little helper makes a big difference

Johannesburg, 14 Apr 2003

An ingenious low-cost plastic tool devised by Krone speeds and simplifies the task of assembling the innovative cable-managed KM8 jacks employed in Krone Category 6 structured wiring systems. Belying its trifling cost and appearance, the tool is in fact a significant aid to productivity and takes the effort out of assembling large numbers of connectors.

Known as the "KM8 Termination Tool", it is available immediately from all KRONE distributors and destined to rapidly become a firm favourite with professional installers.

"Some of the best things come in small packages," declared Kevin Anderson, Product Manager - Category 6 with Krone UK. "Although the click-fit assembly of KM8 jacks is simplicity itself, anything that speeds the task for busy installers has to be a bonus. And that`s exactly what this tool, purpose-designed by our technical team in Cheltenham in response to user feedback, does. Priced around lb1.60, it will recover its costs on the first day of use."

In looks the KM8 Termination Tool is closest to a miniature pair of nutcrackers but there the resemblance ends. By aligning the components of the KM8 jack accurately and rapidly, then applying exactly the right pressure for assembly, it speeds the task in hand and ensures accurate fitting. The device itself is made from glass-filled nylon for resilience, strength and dimensional stability.

Anderson concluded: "In the structured cabling industry, Krone tools are a byword, with our well-known punchdown implement in every installer`s toolbox. This is another winner and I have every confidence that the KM8 Termination Tool will soon be another 'must have`. Logical and robust, it will more likely go missing than wear out. Fortunately its cost is so modest that installers can have as many as they need - and they will certainly want to. Once seen and tried, nobody would ever give it back!"
