Intervate, a developer of browser-based applications and the IntraCS intranet solution, has appointed Dimension as a reseller of its products worldwide.

DiData will also roll-out a 10 000-seat implementation of the IntraCS product worldwide, launching Intervate into the global arena.

IntraCS, the flagship product of the two-year-old company, is a locally developed intranet solution that has already been adopted by companies such as MedScheme, Anglo Platinum, Microsoft South Africa and Unisys.

IntraCS (or Intranet Component System) is an intranet-based knowledge management system that centralises management information. Standard features of the application include content and document management as well as staff management facilities. The interface is customisable using "themes" and users can personalise their information preferences.

Shaun Basel, GM of DiData`s Web Channel iCommerce Software division, says DiData was looking for a cost-effective intranet solution to offer to customers. "We were really impressed with the out-of-he-box functionality of IntraCS...what would take a normal portal solution possibly months to develop, IntraCS managed to achieve in only four days."

Migal van As, MD of Intervate, says the IntraCS product was designed with both budgets and end-users in mind. "We have focused on creating a product that offers seamless integration with other applications in the most cost-effective way possible as well as developing a solution that is easy to use."

Johan Coetzee, MD of DiData`s iCommerce Software division, says "it made sense to include IntraCS in our stable of products. IntraCS gives us the ability to offer our clients a common communication platform that is quick and easy to implement."

Basel notes: "It is really encouraging to see that a South African company has developed a product that is of such high standard which has the ability to be taken into the global market."
