Software developer Syspro has been awarded the "Designed for Windows XP" accreditation for IMPACT Encore 5.1 enterprise software thus guaranteeing customers that the product conforms to and is fully compatible with the Windows XP operating system. This makes IMPACT Encore the only software developed in SA to receive such an accolade.
Phil Duff, Syspro's CEO, says this certification identifies products that have been developed to meet Microsoft's quality standards and provide a superior computing experience on Windows XP.
"The 'Designed for Windows XP' accreditation means that Microsoft has tested our product to ensure it conforms to the specified standards for the Windows XP operating system, including a list of guidelines covering a number of common operations," said Duff. "Over the past 12 months, we've been involved in rewriting some elements of IMPACT Encore to ensure compliance with Microsoft's standards. This has resulted in greater functionality and a number of enhancements, including catering for roaming users."
Gail Moffitt, ISV partner programme manager at Microsoft, adds that Syspro's commitment to designing and certifying its products for Windows XP has resulted in a well designed product, compatible within the PC ecosystem.
According to Duff, IMPACT Encore customers have had for some years now the benefit of a reliable and robust ERP system to run their businesses. Now, with IMPACT Encore securing the Windows XP accreditation, users stand to benefit in a number of additional ways from this compatibility.
"The installation and removal of IMPACT Encore is similar to other applications with which the user is familiar and is less likely to conflict with applications that the user has already installed," he said.
Duff added that the Windows XP stamp of approval would also assist Syspro in marketing IMPACT Encore in the US, where Microsoft accreditation is an important criteria for customers when choosing an ERP system. However, not many ERP software products have this designation, making Syspro's achievement even more significant.
"The Windows XP certification positions Syspro at the forefront of ERP vendors with a solution that leverages the power and flexibility of Microsoft's operating systems and strictly conforms to their quality standards," he concluded.
