Local start-up, Motillion has rolled out a cloud storage and file-sharing for PC, Mac and mobile devices.

The service, called Snapdisk, was conceptualised by the South African technology start-up and developed in conjunction with international partners.

According to Motillion, Snapdisk offers users a solution to access, edit, synchronise and share their files wherever they are.

Shaun Adler, co-founder of Motillion, points out that external USB devices are a great way to quickly back up important data, but it is no longer the most secure method to keep data safe.

“Theft and hardware damage is a real risk when you keep your data backed up at home or the office, a problem that is eliminated when storing your data securely online.”

Adler explains that Snapdisk was therefore developed to make online backup and sync as easy as possible to use.

“We wanted to develop a cloud storage service that is much easier to use than anything else currently available online and offer it at a much better price point” adds Adler.

The start-up says the backup solution offers 500GB of cloud storage space and is free for the first year, after which a monthly charge of $6.95 will apply.

It adds that the Sync Account offers 500GB of cloud storage space at $8.95 per month.
