LOG-TEK launches e-Cats online

Johannesburg, 03 May 2001

Content provider LOG-TEK (Pty) Ltd launches a "first of its kind in the world" - e-CATS online - a self-contained HTML-based cataloguing tool allowing vendors, suppliers and manufacturers to catalogue their own items and parts for e-commerce, e-procurement solutions and ERP applications. The high cost of cataloguing and the complications of publishing sophisticated content for e-commerce solutions is what led LOG-TEK (Pty) Ltd to develop e-CATS online. e-CATS online empowers vendors, suppliers and manufacturers to create and maintain their own content with little or no intervention from third-party content factories while reducing the cost of publishing sophisticated content by more than 50%.

e-CATS online not only supports cataloguing functions for vendors, suppliers and manufacturers but also has build in functionality for Net market-makers and market sites to view the product offering from individual vendors, suppliers and manufacturers. This enables Net market-makers to "pull" sophisticated content as and when required as opposed to waiting for "push" of content from product sources, ensuring that version control of catalogues is achieved.

e-CATS online furthermore allows for full online reporting of all content at commercial and technical level, including vendor, supplier and manufacturer generated export files in Tab Delimited, XML, CIF and all other known formats.
